Learn the basics of backcountry travel while skiing some really fun terrain.

Avalanche Awareness Program
Offered as a public service to communities, schools and outdoor clubs. Program length is 1 Day/ 8 educational hours. This course in intended for non-motorized travelers that want to recognize and avoid avalanche terrain. XC skiers, Snowshoers, Dog Sleders and mixed user groups not intending to be in avalanche terrain will benefit from this course.
*If you want to access the backcountry to make turns, the Level I is the appropriate course for you.
The course is expected to provide a basic approach to staying safe in the backcountry.
Wilderness First Aid Basics:
This 16 hour course compliments the rescue portion of avalanche training with an introduction to wilderness first aid concepts. Participants receive an American Red Cross Wilderness First Aid Basics certificate with a certification period of three years.
Other American Red Cross Certifications and refreshers are also available through OAI.
Organizations and groups are encouraged to shedule private courses with us.

Avalanche Safety for Snowmobilers
A 1 day course designed for the snowmobiler perspective. The day is a mix of classroom and a sled based field tour. This course focuses on observable clues to avalanche hazard including avalanche terrain recognition, weather observations and group management. Travel techniques are also discussed. Companion rescue is taught and field practice with avalanche transceivers is provided.
